With 64.5 million streams in the first 24-hours, J. Cole’s KOD has broken Drakes’ Views on Apple Music by nearly 1 million streams.

J. Cole 5th album has managed to deliver 7 out of top 10 most streamed songs on Apple Music in a one day period, while Apple Music itself was able to pull in 66% of the first-day streaming market for KOD in US. Apple’s music streaming service took 60% of the worldwide pie, which continues its trend of capturing the majority of hip-hop and R&B streaming market despite 12 million users less than Spotify.

While Spotify hasn’t released its streaming numbers yet, there’s a huge chance that it isn’t even close to Apple Music’s stream numbers for J. Cole’s album. It’s also expected that Apple Music may even surpass Spotify in terms of users within this year.

Apple’s growing dominance in the streaming music business is a sure indicator that Apple is playing the right cards against as big of players like Spotify.
