In a report acquired by Apple Insider, Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI securities has predicted that iPhone X production might be halted later in 2018
Ming-Chi Kuo enjoys a successful track record of predicting Apple’s plans. According to him, the main reason for iPhone X’s possible discontinuation is the new iPhone models and the iPhone X in production as a low cost alternative then there is no major reason for consumers to buy the predicted 6.1 Inch iPhone. Plus, reducing the cost of the iPhone X will increase production costs.
Fun Fact: The iPhone 5 met a similar fate on the launch of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.
The report also mention Kuo stating that Apple will see a minor 5% growth in the first half of 2018 but will enjoy a better end to 2018 with 10% growth due to the three iPhone X inspired replacements in the second generation iPhone X, the 6.5 Inch iPhone X Plus and the new 6.1 inch iPhone SE variant.
It is worth noting that these 2018 iPhones will not have the reduced notch that Apple is working on for the 2019 iPhones.
