Apple stopped signing iOS 11.4 today. This will mean that users will not be able to downgrade to the older version of iOS for any reason whatsoever.

iOS 11.4.1 was released to public last week, and even though it wasn’t a major release, it did ship with many bug fixes and performance improvements.

Jailbreak enthusiasts will be the ones most affected by Apple’s move. Jailbreaking has started to gain popularity again with recent prominent releases of iOS versions, but when Apple stops signing older iOS versions, it prevents users from jailbreaking their devices.

As far as iOS 12 is concerned, it is still in beta testing phase. We are not sure if we will be seeing any more iOS 11.x versions. However, iOS 12 will be available to public later this year, so there’s a chance that a minor bug-killing version or two may be released till then.

Have you upgraded to iOS 11.4.1? If not, what is holding you back? Let us know in the comments below.
