iOS 11.3 is Available Now With New Animojis, AR Experiences, ARKit 1.5, Health Records and More

Apple has officially released iOS 11.3 for iPhone and iPad. This is the 12th update to iOS 11 and it comes with lots of new features and updates for the users.

Eligible devices include iPhone iPhone 5S and later iPhones, iPad mini 2 and later, iPad Air and later, and sixth-generation iPod touch. To download the latest update, go to Settings -> General -> Software Update.

What This Update Brings

There are tons of new features shipped with iOS 11.3:

Battery and Performance

This update introduces a “Battery Health” feature designed to provide information to iOS users about their device’s battery performance and Apple has also promised that it introduces its functions and features added to older iPhones.

Also included:

  • Users can see if the performance management feature that dynamically manages maximum performance to prevent unexpected shutdowns is on and includes the option to disable it.
  • Displays the information on an iPhone maximum battery capacity and peak performance capability.
  • Recommends if the battery needs to be replaced.

Health Records

iOS 11.3 introduces a new Health record feature in the U.S. This new feature helps patients to access all their health records (by participating hospitals) right from their iPhone.

Also included:

  • Access health records and you can view lab reports, immunizations, and more in a consolidated timeline in the Health app.
  • Your health records data is encrypted and protected with a passcode.  

Privacy & Data

iOS 11.3 and macOS 10.13.4 introduce updated data and privacy information to the users to understand how their personal data may be used.

When an Apple feature asks to use your personal data, a new privacy icon and detailed information will appear to explain how your personal data will be used and protected.  

ARKit 1.5

iOS 11.3 update include ARKit 1.5, that gives developers to play more with augmented reality apps. ARKit has the image and recognition object feature that gives virtual objects to be placed on vertical surfaces.

More Animoji

Four new exciting Animojis have been introduced for iPhone X owners in iOS 11.3 (a lion, dragon, bear, and a skull).

New AR Experiences

New AR experience supports a high resolution real world camera view.

ARKit 1.5 allows developers to place digital objects on vertical surfaces like walls in addition to horizontal surface.

  • Apple Music now streams music videos uninterrupted by ads. Users can watch the hottest new videos, classics or ones from their favorite artists back-to-back in new music video playlists.
  • Apple News makes it easier to stay up-to-date on the most important videos of the day with a new Video group in For You, and improved Top Stories.
  • Commuters in Beijing and Shanghai can begin using Apple Pay on their iPhone and Apple Watch for an easy, fast and secure ride on Metro and bus lines.
  • Apple TV app, a unified place for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV users to discover and start watching the best shows and movies, will launch in Brazil and Mexico. These markets join Apple TV app users in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden and the UK.
  • Brazil will gain Siri support on Apple TV 4K and Apple TV (4th generation), making it possible to search for and access movies, shows, songs, apps and more, using just your voice.
  • HomeKit software authentication provides a great new way for developers to add HomeKit support to existing accessories while protecting privacy and security.
  • Support for Advanced Mobile Location (AML) to automatically send a user’s current location when making a call to emergency services in countries where AML is supported.

So there are lots of entertaining and exciting packages in one platform to take the iOS experience.
