It may be possible that you are not able to upgrade your Apple device to iOS 10, because your device is not recent enough to run it, or due to any other reason. There are other tricks and hacks for devices that are running on iOS 9 or earlier. The trick helps you to hide any app on your apple devices, including those preinstalled apps such as Stocks, Newsstand or the Apple Watch app, that you were previously unable to get rid of.

Here is a step by step guide that will help you hide the apps and will prevent them from crowding your display screen:

Step 1:

Press and hold any app icon for about three to four seconds until they all start wobbling. This indicates that the device is in edit mode and you can drag the icons into new positions, group them into different folders or delete them (with ios 9 or earlier you can’t delete the preinstalled apps).

Step 2:

The trick is to create a folder to virtually dump all the unwanted apps. If you already have a folder just drag all the unwanted apps into that folder. If you want to make a new one, just drag the apps, one on top of the other, and the folder will be created.

TIP: It may take longer if you want to put apps that are spread across multiple pages. The easiest way is to have all the apps you want to hide on the same page.

Step 3:

Now once the folder has been created, drag one of the app icons toward the right hand edge of the folder. Another page will be created for the icon to sit on. Be careful, not to release your finger from the app icon, and press the Home button. The icon will fly off to the left.

Step 4:

Repeat step five for each app you want to hide. Once all the apps from the folder will vanish the folder will also disappear.

The image below shows the graphic representation of each step.

The problem is that the apps you have hidden are still on your apple device, and they are still occupying the storage space on your apple devices. If these apps are searched on Spotlight Search, it will still appear in the options and can be run normally. When you restart your iPhone, the hidden apps will be on the display screen. Therefore, it is an imperfect and a temporary solution.

How To Set Up A Folder For Hiding Away Unwanted Apps?

Since the method described above is temporary and it can be annoying to see all the apps cluttering your display screen again, every time you restart your apple device. Therefore, many people would prefer the older and more conventional method of creating a folder for all the unwanted apps and let the folder be on a page all by itself.

Here is a step by step guide to form a folder:

Step 1:

Press and hold the icon of any app until all the app icons start moving and the edit mode is activated.

Step 2:

In order to create a folder, drag the icons on top of one another. Once the folder has been created, you can add more apps to it.

Step 3:

The folder will be automatically named based on the app’s descriptions, but it can be renamed by taping on its name.
