Thanks to iOS 11, you no longer have to connect to a Mac to record your iPhone/iPad’s screen. Apple has finally made this feature a part of the iOS experience itself and yes, microphone recording possible as well.
How to enable screen recording in your iOS device:
Before you can record your screen, you have to enable the option from settings.
Step 1: Open ‘Settings’
Step 2: Select ‘Control Center’
Step 3: Tap on ‘Customize Controls’
Step 4: Locate ‘Screen Recording’ control and tap the ‘+’ button next to it.
The record button should now appear in the Control Center. You should be able to use the Handle at the end of listing to reorder the control center as you like.
How to Record Screen in iOS 11
Now let’s learn how to record your iPhone/iPad screen directly from the device:
Step 1: On your iPhone or iPad, swipe from bottom (or swipe down from top right corner of the screen if you are using the iPhone X) to enter control center.
Step 2: You should be able to see the ‘Screen recording’ control (which looks like a record button) at the top right corner.
Step 3: *Optional* Long press or 3D touch the button to reveal options such as microphone audio option.
Step 4: Tap on the ‘record’ button to start recording the screen.
Step 5: Swipe away the control center and carry out the tasks you want to record.
Step 6: Notice the red bar at the top (it shows recording time) Tap on the red bar when you want stop the recording.
Step 7: Tap on ‘Stop’ to stop the recording
You should get a notification that the video has been saved to the photos app. And that’s it. You’ve recorded your iOS video without the need of a Mac or an external software!
